Fees & billing

Mediclinic is a mixed billing practice. Here are our current fees, who may be bulk billed, and how to claim your Medicare rebate.

Mediclinic is a private, mixed billing medical centre. An out-of-pocket fee applies to your consultation if you are not eligible for bulk billing, and you will be reimbursed part of the fee by Medicare or your insurer. If you are unsure, please ask our receptionists, who are happy to help.

Get your rebate on the spot. Bring your debit card and we can process your Medicare rebate with Easyclaim when you pay. The rebate goes straight back into your bank account. Make sure your bank details are up to date with Medicare.

Bulk billing eligibility

Some of our practitioners bulk bill the following patients, at their discretion. Not all practitioners bulk bill, so please check with reception before your appointment.

  • Children aged 15 years and younger
  • People aged 65 years and older
  • Valid concession card holders
  • DVA card holders
  • Care plans and health assessments

If your concession card does not validate on the day, you will be asked to pay the private fee.

Sexual health (SHIP) appointments

Face-to-face Sexual Health in Practice appointments, for new and returning patients, are privately billed, with a Medicare rebate available. Telephone appointments to review results are bulk billed. The same billing applies whether you see a GP or Nurse Practitioner. More about our sexual health clinic.

International students and private insurance

We hold direct billing agreements with these student insurance (OSHC) providers: BUPA, NIB, IMAN, Medibank, AHM and Allianz. On the day, we collect the gap fee and claim the rest from your insurer. You must show your physical or digital card at reception before your appointment, or you may need to pay in full and claim it back yourself. More for international students.

Cancellations and missed appointments

Please give at least 3 hours’ notice if you can’t attend. A $30 + GST no-show fee may apply to missed appointments without notice. Read our full appointments policy.

Why don’t you bulk bill everyone?

Medicare rebates have not kept pace with the cost of providing quality care. Charging a gap fee for some appointments allows us to offer longer consultations, keep our team, and continue to bulk bill patients who need it most.

How much will I get back from Medicare?

The rebate depends on the length and type of consultation. See the tables above. Most rebates can be processed on the spot with a debit card.

Are the fees the same for every practitioner?

Our published fees are a guide. Billing is at each practitioner’s discretion and depends on the complexity and length of your appointment.

Do you bulk bill telehealth?

Telehealth billing follows the same rules as face-to-face appointments. Please ask reception when booking.
