Sore feet can make every part of your day harder. Mediclinic has an onsite podiatrist in Clayton South, so you can get foot care in the same place you see your GP. Our podiatrist is Joe Spicuglia of Foot Folk. He consults at Mediclinic on set mornings each week.
A podiatrist is an allied health professional who assesses, diagnoses and treats problems with the feet and lower legs. Podiatry can be especially important if you have diabetes, circulation problems or difficulty caring for your own feet.

Why foot care matters with diabetes
Diabetes can affect the nerves and blood flow in your feet. This means small cuts, blisters or pressure areas may go unnoticed and heal slowly. Regular foot checks help pick up problems early. If you have diabetes, your GP and podiatrist can work together as part of your chronic disease management care.
See your GP promptly if you notice a sore that isn’t healing, new redness, swelling or warmth, or a change in colour of your foot. These can be signs that you need care quickly. For wounds, see also Wound care.
Bulk billing with a care plan
If you have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (care plan) from your Mediclinic GP, you may be eligible for bulk-billed podiatry. Medicare provides a limited number of rebated allied health visits each year for eligible people with a chronic condition and a GP care plan.
If you think you might be eligible, book in with your GP first to talk about a care plan and referral. Without a care plan, a private fee applies. Ask reception about current fees. See also our fees page.
