Book an appointment
Book online at /book/ or call (03) 9544 1555. Let reception know it’s for wound care.
Assessment
We look at the wound, ask how it happened, and check for signs of infection.
Cleaning and dressing
We clean the wound and apply a suitable dressing. We’ll explain how to look after it at home.
Follow-up
We let you know when to come back for a dressing change, review or stitch removal.
Signs a wound may be infected: increasing pain, redness or swelling, warmth, pus or a bad smell, red streaks spreading from the wound, or fever. If you notice these, book an appointment. If you are very unwell, seek urgent care.
Slow-healing wounds
Some wounds take longer to heal, especially in older people, people with diabetes or people with poor circulation. We can look for the cause and plan your care. If you have diabetes, our onsite podiatry service provides diabetic foot care. Your GP may also suggest a chronic disease management plan.
Minor procedures
Our practitioners perform minor procedures in the clinic. Dr Xue-Feng Hu has a special interest in minor surgical procedures. These may include:
- skin biopsies and shave biopsies
- excision of skin lesions
- minor skin removals, such as skin tags
- Implanon insertion and removal. See contraception
- iron infusions
Your practitioner will explain what is involved, the possible risks such as bleeding, infection and scarring, and the aftercare before you decide. Whether a procedure is suitable is assessed individually. For skin procedures, see skin checks and excisions.
