Make the most of your trip by planning your health ahead. Mediclinic’s travel clinic in Clayton South offers travel vaccinations, health advice and medicines for holidays, work trips and visits to family overseas. Whether you are heading to South-East Asia, Africa, South America or Europe, we can help you prepare.
We welcome new patients for travel appointments, so you don’t need to be a regular Mediclinic patient.
Book at least 6 weeks before you travel
We recommend booking at least 6 weeks before your trip. Some vaccines need time to work, and some need more than one dose spread over several weeks. Booking early gives you time to have the vaccines, medicines and answers you need before you take off.
If you are leaving sooner, still book in. Some protection is better than none, and we can advise on what is possible in the time you have.
Travel vaccinations in Clayton
The vaccines you need depend on where you are going, how long you will stay, what you will be doing, and your health and vaccination history. Your practitioner may discuss vaccines such as:
- hepatitis A and hepatitis B
- typhoid
- yellow fever
- rabies
- Japanese encephalitis
- cholera
- influenza and COVID-19
- routine vaccines, such as measles, tetanus and whooping cough boosters
Nurse Practitioner Vara Perikala provides travel vaccines, including yellow fever, and holds a certificate in immunisation. Please call reception to check current availability of yellow fever vaccination before you book.
Some vaccines carry a cost for the vaccine itself, on top of the consultation fee. Ask us about the cost when you book. See also our vaccinations page.
What to bring to your travel appointment
Please bring:
- Your travel itinerary, including countries, cities and rural areas you plan to visit
- Any previous pathology results, such as blood tests or immunity checks
- Your current medications list
- Your vaccination history, if you have it
More than vaccines
A travel consultation can also cover:

- insect bite prevention
- altitude, motion sickness and long-haul flights
- managing ongoing conditions and medicines while you are away
- a letter for carrying medicines, if needed

No. We accept new patients for travel appointments. Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete your registration.
Do you offer the yellow fever vaccine?
Yellow fever vaccination is among the travel vaccines Nurse Practitioner Vara Perikala provides. Please call (03) 9544 1555 to check current availability before you book.
What should I bring?
Your itinerary, any previous pathology results, your current medications list and your vaccination history if you have it.
Are travel vaccines covered by Medicare?
